Montebelo Viseu Congress Hotel & Spa
By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.
It is worth booking if you want a full 5-star hotel in Viseu with a spa, pools and a well reviewed breakfast, and you do not mind a 16-minute walk to the cathedral. If you only need a central bed, our Best Value pick scores almost as well for much less.

This is our Luxury pick for Viseu, and it has 5 official stars. It suits couples on a weekend break who want to use a spa and pool, families who need family rooms and free parking, and people attending events who want everything in one building.
Our data tags it as pet-friendly, but the exact rules and fees are not confirmed, so ask the hotel first.
Skip it if you want to step straight out into the old town, or if the pool is the main reason for your trip. Guests say the water can be cold and the decks crowded.
Location and getting around
The address is Urbanização Quinta do Bosque. The location score is 9.2 out of 10.
Viseu Cathedral and the Grão Vasco National Museum are both about 1.3 km away, around 16 minutes on foot. That is a manageable walk, though not right on the doorstep. These times are straight-line estimates, so the real route may be longer.
The Monastery of Santa Maria de Maceira Dão is about 9.4 km away, close to two hours on foot. That is far, so you will need a car, public transport or a taxi. Free parking is listed, which helps if you drive.
What guests say
The hotel scores 9.1 out of 10 from 968 guest reviews. That placed it joint first of 8 eligible properties in our sample.
Breakfast gets the most praise: a varied buffet with fresh fruit, bread, pastries, juices and cheeses. Guests also mention a friendly, attentive and professional team that provides efficient service.
The weak point is the pools. Guests describe clean indoor and outdoor areas, but the water can be cold and the decks can get crowded. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed in our data.
Price and what you get compared with our other picks
The reference price was €124.50 per night, seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 November) for 2 adults in one room. That is clearly above the sample median of €88.40. It is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Best Value pick, Pousada De Viseu, scored 9.0 with 4 stars at €88.80 per night. Our Budget pick, Hotel Durao, scored 8.2 with 3 stars at €70. Here you pay about €36 more per night than the Pousada for a similar guest score, plus a spa, gym, pool, restaurant, garden and terrace listed by the property.
Breakfast is listed as buffet. Whether it is included in the rate is not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 8 eligible hotels in Viseu. Our Luxury slot goes to official 5-star hotels first, and this one also had the top guest score in the sample at 9.1 from close to a thousand reviews.
It is the pick for travellers who value facilities. If you mainly want a good room at a lower price, the Pousada is the stronger deal.
Before you book
Check today's price and whether breakfast is included. Confirm the cancellation terms.
Ask whether spa access and pool use are included or charged, and what the opening hours are for your dates. In November, check whether the outdoor pool is open at all. If you bring a pet, confirm the policy and fee.
