MS Collection Aveiro - Palacete Valdemouro is worth booking if you want the top-rated hotel in our Aveiro sample, with five stars, a spa and a quiet central setting near the canals. It is not for tight budgets: it cost well above the median, and parking through the valet service is expensive.

This is our Luxury pick in Aveiro. It suits couples and travellers who want a special stay with attentive service, and who plan to explore the old town and canals on foot.
The listing includes a gym, a spa, a pool, a restaurant, a terrace, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Guests rate the location 9.8 out of 10.
If you are watching costs, look at our other two picks first. Drivers should also factor in parking, which guests describe as expensive through the valet, with few alternatives nearby.
Location and getting around
The address is 50 Rua José Estevão, in what the booking platform calls the top-rated area of Aveiro. Guests describe a central, quiet setting within walking distance of the old town, the canals and restaurants.
The Cathedral of Aveiro is about 0.4 km away, roughly 5 minutes on foot.
The Lighthouse of Praia da Barra is a different trip. At about 8 km, roughly 100 minutes on foot, it is far, so you will need public transport, a taxi or a car. Walking times are straight-line estimates and have not been verified.
What guests say
The hotel scores 9.6 out of 10 from 1,045 reviews. That is fewer reviews than many hotels collect, but it is still a solid base for such a high score.
Staff are the most praised point: friendly, professional, attentive and welcoming. Location is the other, central and quiet, close to the old town, canals and places to eat.
Parking is the one recurring complaint. A valet service is available and convenient, but expensive, and there are few other spaces nearby. Room size, noise and renovation condition are not covered in our data.
Price compared with our other two picks
We saw a reference price of €240.62 per night for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults in one room. The sample median was €130.62, so this sits far above it. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Hotel Afonso V & SPA, cost €64.50 per night with 8.7 and three stars. Our Best Value pick, Hotel do Alboi, scored 9.3 with four stars at €148.20.
So you pay about €92 a night more than the Best Value pick for a 0.3 higher score, five stars and the listed spa and pool. Breakfast options include continental, vegetarian, gluten-free, buffet and breakfast to go; whether breakfast is in your rate was not assessed.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 7 eligible properties in Aveiro. This hotel shared first place on guest score.
Our Luxury slot gives priority to five-star hotels, and this one has five official stars. A 9.6 on top of that made it the obvious choice.
