Northern Hotel is worth booking if you want the best-rated downtown base in Billings, with friendly staff and restaurants and bars on foot. Watch the cost, though: guests call the rates and water charges high, and our Best Value pick matches its score for much less.

This is our Luxury pick for Billings. It suits travellers who want to park the car and walk to dinner, business visitors who value service, and families, as family rooms are listed.
Guests rate it 8.9 out of 10 from 811 reviews. It is a four-star hotel chosen as a fallback, because no five-star option qualified and four-star fallbacks must score at least 8.5.
Skip it if price is your main filter. Some guests say room rates and water charges are high, and our cheaper picks may serve you just as well if you only need a bed.
Location and getting around
The address is 19 North Broadway. Guests describe a central downtown setting within walking distance of restaurants, bars and shops. The location score is 9.4.
St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral is about 0.4 km away, roughly 5 minutes on foot. The Billings Montana Temple is about 10.6 km and ZooMontana about 10.7 km, both well over two hours on foot. Those are far, so plan on a car or taxi.
All walking times are straight-line estimates and have not been verified. The property lists free parking and a free airport shuttle, which helps if you fly in.
What guests say
Location and staff lead the praise. Guests mention a friendly, helpful team at the front desk, the valet stand and the restaurant, and like being able to walk to places to eat and drink.
The main complaint is value. Guests count the parking and valet service as benefits, but say the room rates and the charges for water are high. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed in our data.
Price and what you get compared with our other picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults was €206.16 per night, against a sample median of €120.33. It is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Quality Inn Homestead Park, was €97.19 per night with a score of 8.0 and four stars. Our Best Value pick, Boothill Inn and Suites, was €129.80 with an 8.9 and three stars.
So Boothill matches the Northern's 8.9 for about €76 less per night. What the Northern adds is the downtown address, a restaurant on site, valet service and a fourth star. If walking to dinner matters, the premium can make sense. Breakfast is not confirmed in our data.
