Backpackers, students and anyone on a tight budget are the obvious match. You get an Old Town address, family rooms, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a terrace at a price far below most of the city. No official star rating appears in our data.
Skip it if you want more than a place to sleep. Breakfast is not confirmed, the score is the lowest of our three Riga picks, and some guests raise cleanliness issues. Travellers who care about a polished room should look at the alternatives below.
Location and getting around
The address is Peldu iela 17, Rīga, LV-1050, and guests rate the location 9.3. Riga Cathedral is about 0.4 km away, around 5 minutes on foot. The Freedom Monument and Riga Castle are each about 0.7 km, roughly 9 minutes.
All of those are straight-line estimates, so real walks can be a bit longer. Guests describe a central Old Town setting near the sights, restaurants and the bus station. Parking details are not in our data; check with the property if you are driving.
What guests say
With 2,949 reviews, the score of 8.1 out of 10 rests on a large sample. The clear positive is location: guests like being in the Old Town, near sights, restaurants and the bus station.
The recurring complaint is room cleanliness. Rooms are generally described as tidy, but some guests report mould in showers and dusty floors. On review score the hotel ranked 32 of 34 eligible properties, so it is not chosen for its reviews.
Price and how it compares with our other Riga picks
The reference price was €28.81 per night, seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room, about €58 for both nights. That was 63% below the sample median. It is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Best Value pick, Carillon Aparthotel - Keystone Collection, was €66.50 per night with a 9.6, the top score in the sample. Our Luxury pick, Grand Poet Hotel and SPA by Semarah, a 5-star, was €107.71 with a 9.4. Riga's prices are low across the board, so the step up costs less here than in many cities.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 39 candidate hotels in Riga. After reserving the upscale choice, Old Riga Plaza had the lowest eligible reference price. A large review base and an Old Town location kept it in the running despite a modest score.
