Posada Tolosa
By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.
Yes, book it if you want a very cheap, central base 5 minutes on foot from the Cathedral Basilica, with friendly staff. Think twice if you are sensitive to smells, because drainage odours in bathrooms are a frequent complaint.

Posada Tolosa is our Budget pick in Zacatecas. It is a 4-star property in the historic centre with an 8.8 guest score from 368 reviews, and at the reference dates it cost less than half the city median.
It suits sightseers on a budget, couples and families who want to walk everywhere. Family rooms and free parking are listed, and the listing is tagged as pet friendly, which you should confirm. It is a weaker fit for anyone who is fussy about bathrooms, given the most common complaint.
Location and getting around
The hotel is in the Zacatecas Historic Centre, on Juan de Tolosa. The Cathedral Basilica of Zacatecas is about 0.4 km away, around 5 minutes on foot as a straight-line estimate.
The location score is 9.4. Guests describe a central setting a short walk from the cathedral and the historical attractions. For a city best seen on foot, that is the main reason to stay here. Free parking is listed, which is useful in a historic centre, but confirm it for your dates.
What guests say
Location and staff lead the praise. Guests like being a short walk from the cathedral and other historical sights, and they describe the team as friendly, attentive and helpful, with a warm welcome.
The downside is specific. Rooms are generally tidy, but bathrooms frequently suffer from strong drainage odours. That is not a small detail if you are sensitive to it. Among the ten eligible hotels in the sample, the guest score sat joint seventh, so this is a good but not top-rated stay.
Price and how it compares with our other two picks
The reference price was €41.23 per night, about €82.46 for two nights. That is a reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room, not a live quote. It was 46% below the sample median of €76.93 per night. Check today's price for your dates.
Our Best Value pick, Hotel Argento Zacatecas, cost €66.24 per night and scored 8.6, a little lower than this hotel. Our Luxury pick, Hotel Casa Faroles Centro Histórico, cost €107.79 per night and scored 9.4 with 5 stars.
So Posada Tolosa costs about €25 less per night than the Best Value pick and still scores slightly higher. The Luxury pick is the one to choose if you want a clearly better-rated stay and can pay around €66 more per night.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 10 eligible hotels in Zacatecas. This one had the lowest eligible reference price once the upscale choice was set aside. It combines that price with 4 stars, a 9.4 location score and a restaurant, free Wi-Fi and a terrace listed by the property.
Before you book
Breakfast is not confirmed in our data, so check whether your rate includes it. Air conditioning is not listed either. Room size, noise, renovation condition and cancellation terms have not been assessed.
Given the drainage odour comments, read recent reviews and consider asking the hotel about the bathrooms in your room type. If you bring a pet or a car, confirm the rules and the parking space in advance.
