This is a sensible fit for parents visiting students at Chico State, couples on a short city break and anyone who wants to walk to dinner rather than drive. Guests describe the rooms as clean and spacious, with comfortable beds and blackout shades, which matters if you sleep late.
Drivers with trucks, vans or trailers should think twice. The most common complaint is a parking lot that is tight and crowded. If a top guest score is your main filter, look at our Best Value pick instead, which scored 9.1.
Location and getting around
The address is 715 Main Street. The listing gives the area a location score of 9 out of 10, and guests say downtown, the university, restaurants and a popular ice cream shop are within walking distance.
The one sight in our data is Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park, about 0.9 km away, roughly 11 minutes on foot. Treat that as a straight-line estimate, since real walking routes are usually a little longer. Walking times to other attractions have not been verified, so check a map for anything else on your list.
What guests say
The score is 8.3 out of 10 from 658 guest reviews. That is a solid number from a decent sample, but it placed sixth of the six properties we compared, so the competition in Chico scores well.
Praise centres on the rooms: clean, spacious and recently remodeled, with good beds and blackout shades. The location is the other big plus. The main complaint is parking. It is free and handy for some, yet many find it crowded and awkward for larger vehicles.
Price and what you get compared with our other picks
Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults in one room, came to about €81.80 per night, so roughly €164 for both nights. The median in our sample was €98.97, which puts this hotel about 17% below. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
For that money the listing shows an outdoor pool, free parking, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning, plus a continental and buffet breakfast. Whether breakfast is included in your rate is not confirmed. The gap to our other picks is small: Hampton Inn & Suites Chico, Ca, our Best Value choice, was €92.72 with a 9.1 score, and Doubletree By Hilton Chico, Ca, our Luxury choice, was €88.86 with an 8.5 score. If those prices hold for your dates, spending €7 to €11 more per night buys a higher score.
Why it made our top 3
We compared six eligible properties in Chico. After setting aside the upscale choice, this one had the lowest reference price, which is what earns the Budget slot. It also pairs that price with a 9 out of 10 location score and a large review base, so it is a low price without a remote address.
Before you book
Check whether breakfast is in your rate, and confirm the pool is open in November, since availability and opening times are not confirmed. If you drive something large, ask the hotel about parking space before you arrive.
Room size, noise levels, renovation condition and cancellation terms have not been assessed. Read the cancellation policy on your booking and compare today's price against the other two picks before you commit.
