Couples and short-break travellers who want to walk to dinner will find the most value here. Guests praise spotless interiors and a location close to downtown dining, and the 9.2 score was the highest of the three eligible hotels we compared.
Skip it if price comes first: it was the most expensive of our three Chatham picks. Anyone sensitive to firm or small beds should also think twice, as some guests reported back pain from the mattresses and pillows.
Location and getting around
The hotel is at 2 King Street West. Guests say it is walkable to downtown restaurants and local dining, and the location score is 9.5.
We do not have a list of nearby sights with distances for this hotel, so we cannot give walking times. Check a map for the places you plan to visit. Free parking is listed by the property, which helps if you arrive by car, but confirm it for your dates.
What guests say
The overall score is 9.2 out of 10 from 157 reviews. Cleanliness stands out: guests describe interiors kept immaculate. The walkable location is the other recurring positive.
The clear weak point is sleep comfort. Some guests found the mattresses and pillows uncomfortable and small, and a few mentioned back pain. If you are particular about beds, ask the hotel what is in the room type you book.

Why it made our top 3
We compared 3 eligible properties in Chatham. Five-star hotels are preferred for the Luxury slot, but a 4-star can qualify if it scores at least 8.5. Retro Suites holds an official 4-star rating and scored 9.2, top of the group, so it took the place.
