Sleep Inn & Suites Ames near ISU Campus is our Luxury pick in Ames. It is the only 4-star hotel among our three choices, and the rating is official. It suits drivers, since parking is free and guests mention easy access to the highway, and visitors heading to the nearby university campus.
If you need a silent room, be careful. Many guests found it peaceful, but overhead footsteps and mechanical noise are sometimes audible. Those wanting the highest guest score should compare it with our Best Value pick, which scores 9.2.
Location and getting around
You will find it at 1310 Dickinson Avenue. Guests rate the location 9.0 out of 10 and point to quick access to the highway and to the university campus.
We have no verified walking times to specific sights. Check the distance to the parts of campus or town you need on a map before booking. With free parking on site, arriving by car is the simplest option.
What guests say
The score is 8.6 out of 10 from 376 reviews. That is the largest review count among our three Ames picks, so the score rests on a broad base. On review score alone it placed joint seventh of 9 eligible properties, which shows how close the ratings are in this city.
Cleanliness stands out: guests describe spotless, well-maintained rooms. Location gets credit too, for the highway and the campus.
The weak spot is soundproofing. Plenty of guests slept well, but some heard footsteps from above and mechanical sounds. Ask for a top-floor room if that worries you.
Price and value against our other Ames picks
The reference price was €104.41 per night, about €209 for two nights. That is a reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 November) for 2 adults, not a live quote. It was 18% below the sample median of €127.03. Check today's price for your dates.
Listed facilities include a gym, a pool, free parking, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Breakfast is listed as continental and buffet. Inclusion in your rate is not confirmed.
Our Budget pick, Best Western Plus University Park Inn & Suites, was €88.40 per night with a score of 8.3. Home2 Suites By Hilton Ames, our Best Value pick, was €114.18 with 9.2. So this Luxury pick sits between the two on price, which is unusual. You get the 4-star rating and free parking for about €16 more than the Budget pick.
