The Halston is our Luxury pick in Carlisle. It suits couples and families who want to walk to the main sights and are happy to pay more for the city's highest guest score in our sample. Family rooms are listed, and pets appear in the property tags, though pet rules and fees are not confirmed.
Skip it if you are counting every pound. At about €181 a night in our check, it costs well over the €114.83 median. Our Budget and Best Value picks are much cheaper.
Location and getting around
The hotel is at 20-34 Warwick Road, Carlisle, Cumbria, and the location score is 9.6 out of 10, the strongest number in its profile.
Carlisle Cathedral is 0.5 km away, about 6 minutes on foot. Carlisle Castle is 0.8 km away, about 10 minutes, and Brunton Park is 1.2 km away, about 15 minutes. These are straight-line estimates that have not been verified on the ground, so allow a few extra minutes. For most visits you will not need transport at all.
What guests say
The overall score is 9.3 out of 10 from 767 reviews, the joint highest among the 3 eligible hotels we compared in Carlisle.
Our data does not include a summary of specific likes or dislikes from guests. That means we cannot tell you what people praise or criticise most, beyond the high score and the strong location rating. Read recent reviews yourself, paying attention to rooms, noise and breakfast.
Price and how it compares with our other Carlisle picks
We saw €180.69 a night. This is a reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults, not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates. The sample median was €114.83, so this hotel is clearly at the top end.
Our Budget pick, Crown & Mitre Hotel, was €107.02 a night with a score of 8.3. Our Best Value pick, Crown Hotel Wetheral, was €114.83 with 8.4. The Halston costs roughly €66 to €74 more per night than those two. In return you get a score almost a full point higher and the best location rating in the group.
Listed facilities are a gym, restaurant, family rooms and free Wi-Fi, and spa appears in the property tags. Its opening times and any charges are not confirmed. Breakfast details are not in our data, so check whether it is included.
Why it made our top 3
Five-star hotels come first for our Luxury slot. A four-star hotel can take the place only with a score of 8.5 or more. The Halston is rated 4 stars (estimated by Booking, not an official rating) and scored 9.3, the best of the 3 eligible hotels we compared.
With only three hotels in the sample, the choice was narrow, but the gap in guest score was clear.
Before you book
Room size, noise, renovation condition, breakfast inclusion and cancellation terms have not been assessed. With a higher price, these conditions matter more.
Ask what the spa includes and whether it costs extra, and check the gym and restaurant hours. If you bring a pet, confirm the rules and any fee in writing.
