This is for travellers on the tightest budget who mainly need a bed, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Drivers benefit from free parking, and there is a garden listed.
Skip it if you want a higher standard or breakfast you can count on. It is a 2-star property, it placed joint eighth of 12 on guest score, and breakfast is not confirmed in our data. REZ Hotel Semarang is the obvious step up.
Location and getting around
Our data lists the address only as The Ryokan Semarang, without a street name. Check the exact location on the booking page and a map before you book.
Straight-line estimates put the Great Mosque of Central Java about 1 km away, roughly 13 minutes on foot. Lawang Sewu is about 3.2 km, around 40 minutes, and Sam Poo Kong about 4.5 km, around 56 minutes. Both of those are far on foot, so plan on a taxi or public transport.
Guests rate the location 7.6 out of 10, the weakest part of the score. Walking times have not been verified.
What guests say
The overall score is 8.3 out of 10 from 64 reviews. That placed it joint eighth among the 12 eligible properties we compared, so it is in the lower half on guest rating.
We have no summary of specific praise or complaints. Read recent reviews for comments on cleanliness, noise and room size before you commit.
Price and what you get compared with the other two
The reference price was €16.60 per night, about €33.20 for two nights. These are reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults, not live quotes. The sample median was €40.92, so this sat about 59% below it.
What the money covers: a 2-star room with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, free parking and a garden. Breakfast is not confirmed, so assume you will eat out unless the rate says otherwise.
REZ Hotel Semarang, our Best Value pick, is 4 stars, scores 9.1 and was €28.68 per night. Padma Hotel Semarang, the Luxury pick, is 5 stars, scores 9.6 and was €133.41. The Ryokan saves you about €12 a night against REZ, but gives up 2 stars and almost a full point of guest score.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 12 eligible hotels in Semarang. Once the upscale choice was set aside, this was the lowest eligible reference price, and our Budget slot goes to the cheapest hotel with an acceptable score. At 8.3, it qualified.
