Upstalsboom Parkhotel
By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.
Book it if you want a quiet 4-star base near a park, a strong breakfast and a short walk into Emden's centre at a mid-range price. Skip it if a wide double bed matters to you, since narrow beds are the most specific complaint.

This is our Best Value pick in Emden. It suits couples and families who prefer a calm setting to a central street, and who will make use of a generous breakfast. Family rooms are listed, and the listing tags it as pet-friendly and as having a spa and gym.
Two groups might look elsewhere. Couples who sleep badly in a narrow double bed should note the guest feedback. And travellers who want to be right by the water in the centre could prefer our Luxury pick, which sits closer to the Kunsthalle.
Location and getting around
The address is Friedrich-Ebert-Str. 73-75. The location score is 8.6. Guests describe a quiet setting near the park, a short walk from the town centre.
Kunsthalle Emden is 1 km away, about 13 minutes on foot. The Leaning Tower of Suurhusen is 5.6 km, about 70 minutes. That one is far, so you will need a car, public transport or a taxi to get there.
Walking times are straight-line estimates, so real routes may take longer. Parking is not confirmed in our data, so ask the hotel if you are driving.
What guests say
The score is 8.2 out of 10 from 1,090 reviews, joint second on score among the 3 properties we compared.
Breakfast is the standout. Guests describe an extensive buffet with fresh fruit, fish, eggs and local tea. The location also gets praise for being quiet and close to the park while still a short walk from the centre.
The main complaint is about beds. Rooms are described as spacious, but double beds are often found to be narrow.
Price and what you get, compared with our other two picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 Nov, 2 adults, one room) was €146.13 per night, about €292 for both nights. That was exactly the sample median. These are not live quotes. Check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Faldernpoort, cost €128.25 with a score of 8.1. Our Luxury pick, Hotel am Delft, scored 9.4 at €215.74. Upstalsboom costs about €18 more per night than Faldernpoort for a similar score, so the difference comes down to setting and breakfast. Hotel am Delft scores much higher but costs about €70 more per night.
Listed facilities include free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, a terrace and family rooms. Breakfast styles listed are continental, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and buffet. Whether breakfast is included in your rate is not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
Only 3 eligible properties were compared in Emden, so the choice was narrow. This one balanced its score, more than 1,000 reviews and a median price. It is not the cheapest option, but it offers a quieter setting and a well-reviewed breakfast.
Before you book
Check whether breakfast is included, since it is the main reason guests rate the stay. If bed width matters, ask about twin rooms or larger beds. Confirm parking and the pet policy if relevant. Room size, noise, renovation condition and cancellation terms have not been assessed, so read the room description and cancellation rules before paying.
