Best Western Plus Hill House is worth booking if you want the cheapest of our three Bakersfield picks and a spot guests call handy for the Amtrak station and the arena. If a higher guest score matters more than price, the Padre Hotel nearby cost only about €42 more per night.

This is our Budget choice in Bakersfield. It holds 3 stars and a guest score of 8.2 out of 10 from 464 reviews, which is a large sample for a city hotel.
It suits rail travellers, people heading to an event at the arena and drivers who want free parking. The property lists a gym, a pool, a restaurant, family rooms and air conditioning, and it is tagged as pet-friendly.
Skip it if you want the best-rated stay in town. Its score was joint 9th of 10 in our sample, so most of the competition scored higher. Some guests also mention staff who felt unwelcoming.
Location and getting around
The hotel is at 700 Truxtun Avenue. Guests say it is across the street from the Amtrak station and within walking distance of the arena. The location score is 8.4.
Benton Park is 3.6 km away, about 45 minutes on foot as a straight-line estimate. That is far to walk, so plan on a car, a taxi or public transport.
Free parking is listed by the property, which helps in a city where many visitors drive. Check that it is still free for your dates.
What guests say
Location gets the most praise, mainly for the station across the street and the short walk to the arena.
Cleanliness is the other strong point. Reviews mention tidy, well-kept spaces, fresh bedding and pleasant hallways.
Staff draw mixed comments. Most guests found the team friendly and helpful, but some reported interactions that felt unwelcoming.
Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed. Recent reviews are the best guide there, especially on noise near the station.
Price and value against our other two picks
We saw a reference price of €98.88 a night, about €198 for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room. It is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
The Bakersfield sample median was €114.76 a night, which puts this hotel about 14% below the typical rate.
Our Luxury pick, Padre Hotel, was €140.62 a night with 4 stars and a score of 8.8. Our Best Value pick, Home2 Suites Bakersfield, was €149.56 a night with a score of 9.0. Hill House saves you about €42 to €51 a night against those two. The tradeoff is a lower score and more mixed staff reviews.
An American breakfast is listed. Whether it comes with your rate is not confirmed, so check the rate details.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 10 eligible properties in Bakersfield. For the Budget slot, this was the lowest eligible reference price once the upscale pick was set aside.
Its 464 reviews and 8.2 score show a steady record, even if it does not top the table.
Before you book
