Padre Hotel
By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.
Padre Hotel is worth booking if you want a 4-star base downtown, near the Fox Theater and local restaurants, with staff guests rate highly. It is less suited to drivers on a tight budget, because guests dislike the extra charges for valet parking and water.

This is our Luxury choice in Bakersfield. It is an official 4-star hotel with a guest score of 8.8 out of 10 from 436 reviews.
It suits couples, theatre-goers and anyone who wants to walk to dinner downtown. The property lists a restaurant, a gym, a terrace, family rooms, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning, and it is tagged as pet-friendly.
Skip it if you hate surprise extras. Guests mention charges for water and for valet parking. Skip it too if a pool matters, as none is listed for this property.
Location and getting around
The address is 1702 18th Street. Guests say it is central, in downtown Bakersfield near the Fox Theater and local restaurants. The location score is 9.0, the best of our three Bakersfield picks.
Benton Park is 3.3 km away, about 41 minutes on foot as a straight-line estimate. That is far to walk, so use a car, a taxi or public transport.
Parking is via valet, according to guest comments, and it costs extra. We do not have the rate, so ask before arrival.
What guests say
Location gets strong praise. Guests like being downtown, close to the Fox Theater and a choice of restaurants.
Staff are the second highlight. Reviews describe a friendly, attentive and welcoming team, both at the front desk and in the restaurant.
The complaints are about extras. Room rates feel reasonable to many guests, but charges for water and valet parking annoy them.
Price and what you get against our other two picks
Our reference price was €140.62 a night, about €281 for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room. That is a reference, not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates.
The Bakersfield sample median was €114.76 a night, so Padre sat about 23% above the typical rate.
Our Budget pick, Best Western Plus Hill House, was €98.88 a night with an 8.2 score. Our Best Value pick, Home2 Suites Bakersfield, was €149.56 with a 9.0 score. On these dates the Luxury pick was actually about €9 a night cheaper than the Best Value one. You trade a pool, free parking and a slightly higher score at Home2 Suites for 4 stars, a restaurant and a downtown address here.
Breakfast details are not confirmed in our data. Check whether your rate includes it and what it costs if not.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 10 eligible properties in Bakersfield. Padre placed joint 2nd of 10 on guest score. Our Luxury slot favours five-star hotels, and a four-star hotel needs at least 8.5 to qualify. With 4 official stars and 8.8, it clears that bar.
A location score of 9.0 and consistent praise for staff back up the choice.
Before you book
Check the current price for your dates, since ours is a November 2026 reference. Ask what valet parking costs per night and whether water in the room is charged.
Confirm breakfast terms, restaurant hours and any pet fee. Room size, noise and cancellation terms have not been assessed, so read the rate rules and recent reviews.
