ibis budget Bayreuth

Yes, it is worth booking if you want a simple, cheap room within walking distance of both the Festspielhaus and the Margravial Opera House. Travellers who want space, a gym or extra comfort should look at our other two Bayreuth picks, which cost only a little more.

Who it suits and who should skip it

This 1.5-star hotel is our Budget pick for Bayreuth. It suits solo travellers, couples and festival-goers who mainly need a clean bed, a breakfast buffet and a short walk to the venues. Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a 24-hour front desk are listed, which covers the basics, and late arrivals are less of a worry with a front desk open around the clock.

Skip it if you want hotel facilities beyond the essentials. The data lists nothing like a gym, spa or restaurant here. And if you are coming for the festival, be aware that guests say prices rise sharply in those periods.

Location and getting around

The address is Buergerreutherstrasse 6. Guests say the train station, city centre and Festival Hall are a short walk away. The location score is 8.7.

Straight-line estimates put the Margravial Opera House and the Bayreuth Festspielhaus at about 0.9 km each, roughly 11 minutes on foot. Kunstmuseum Bayreuth is about 1 km, around 13 minutes. For anyone attending a performance at the Festspielhaus, this is the closest of our three picks by these estimates. Times are not measured routes, so allow a little extra.

What guests say

The hotel holds 8.2 out of 10 from 3,366 reviews. Guests like the location, especially the short walk to the station, the centre and the Festival Hall. The breakfast buffet is described as fresh and varied.

The main complaint is about rates rather than the stay itself. Prices are seen as generally affordable, but they rise significantly during festival periods. Plan and compare early if your dates overlap.

Price and how it compares

Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults in one room, were €88.20 a night, or about €176 for both nights. That was 21% below the sample median of €111.00. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your own dates.

In Bayreuth the three picks sit close together. Our Best Value choice, ibis Styles Bayreuth, was €101.25 a night with the same 8.2 score and 3 stars. Our Luxury pick, H4 Hotel Residenzschloss Bayreuth, was €109.00 with 8.5 and 4 stars. So this hotel saved you about €13 a night against ibis Styles and about €21 against H4. Over two nights, the saving was modest, so weigh it against what you lose in facilities and comfort.

Why it made our top 3

We compared 6 eligible properties in Bayreuth. Once the upscale pick was set aside, this hotel had the lowest eligible reference price, which decides our Budget slot. It ranked 4 of 6 on guest score, and more than 3,300 reviews stand behind that 8.2. Its walking distance to the Festspielhaus adds a practical reason to choose it.

Before you book

Room size, noise, renovation condition, breakfast inclusion and cancellation terms have not been assessed. Check whether breakfast is included in your rate. If you travel during a festival period, compare prices across all three picks, since rates can jump. Pets appear in the property tags, but rules and fees are not confirmed, so ask. Parking is not mentioned in the data, so check if you are driving.
